Maternal-foetal medicine physicians provide care before and during pregnancy to women at increased risk for complications due to medical conditions or genetic factors. Also known as perinatologists, these specialists work closely with the woman's obstetrician/gynaecologist, infertility experts and others to ensure the health of both mother and baby. We try and ensure a painless journey towards a memorable and happy delivery for the mother through our delivery services.
Gynae Oncology
Screening of malignancy and basic investigation is carried out at the hospital. Women with gynaecological and urological conditions can tap the expertise of skilled surgeons who specialize in advanced pelvic surgery, gynaecological oncology and urogynaecology. Our surgeons are highly experienced in minimally invasive surgical techniques like hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, colposcopy and endometrial ablation.
Fertility Services
Women experiencing difficulty in conceiving will be evaluated, counselled and treated. Counselling is done for both the woman and her partner. Since in majority of cases the diagnosis can be made by diagnostic Laparoscopy/Hysteroscopy, these services are offered as doctors are trained in minimally invasive surgeries. Intra uterine insemination is also done. Any uterine anomalies or pathology like polycystic ovarian disease and endometriosis can be treated at the same time.
Family Planning Services
Women are counselled regarding family planning methods. Temporary methods like oral pills, IUCD insertion (Copper-T), injectables etc. are individualized as per the need of the patients. Permanent methods like Laparoscopic sterilization are also available with the hospital.
Well Woman Checkup
We encourage women to undergo annual health check-ups. In addition to clinical examinations we encourage them to undergo certain investigations like Pap smear, blood investigations, ultrasound abdomen etc.
Urogynaecology and Pelvic Reconstruction
In cases of descent of uterus (prolapse), bladder (cystocele), rectocele (rectum), corrective procedures can be done either vaginally or through endoscopy. In mild cases medical management will suffice.
DUB (Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding)
Diagnostic services like hysteroscopy and guided biopsy are available. Treatment can be medical — either oral tablets or by insertion of Mirena (hormone incorporated intra uterine device). For excess bleeding, endometrial resection can be done via hysteroscopy. The uterus can be retained and bleeding will reduce.
Minimally Invasive Surgeries
We are adept at handling minimally invasive surgeries through laparoscopy/hysteroscopy. These surgeries involve 3–5 small incisions in the abdominal wall and introducing instruments attached to a monitor so that the entire abdominal organs are visualized with magnification. It can be done for various pathological conditions like:
- Ectopic pregnancies (Tubal Pregnancy)
- Ovarian Cysts
- Myomectomy (Removal of fibroid)
- Hysterectomies
- Endometriosis
- Abnormal masses
- In infertility patients for diagnosis
The many advantages include small scars (5–10mm), faster healing, less post-operative pain and faster return to normal activities.
Menopausal Care
Cessation of periods and the time thereafter is called menopause. Since there is a reduction in hormones during this period it can be associated with symptoms like hot flashes, mood disturbances including depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances and vaginal dryness. These symptoms need treatment in the form of counselling and medications which can be hormonal or non-hormonal depending on severity. Bone mineral density can be done to screen for osteoporosis and appropriate management initiated.
Cancer Screening
All women are counselled regarding Pap smear which has to be done as per WHO protocol to screen cervical cancer (mouth of the womb). If there is any abnormality found in Pap smear, colposcopy is done where cervix is visualised under magnification and a guided biopsy can be done to know the abnormality. Appropriate treatment can then be advised. HPV Vaccine to prevent cervical cancer is also available with the hospital. Clinical breast examinations are done and mammogram is advised where necessary.
